Privacy Policy
Last updated: 09/11/2025
Dokseed helps reconnect lost documents with their rightful owners. We collect and process the minimum information needed to create accounts, post blurred images of found documents, and enable secure chat between users.
Information We Collect
- Account data: name, email and/or phone number you provide during sign-up.
- Security data: one-time passwords (OTP) metadata such as send time, expiry, and attempt counts. OTP codes themselves are transient and may be stored in hashed form.
- Content data: posts of found documents (images are server-side blurred before public display), captions, and view/share counts.
- Usage data: device and log information, and basic analytics to prevent fraud and keep our service reliable.
How We Use Information
- To create and secure your account (OTP verification, authentication).
- To publish and surface posts of found documents while protecting sensitive details via blur.
- To enable private, in-app messaging so users can coordinate safe returns.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms.
What We Don’t Do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use OTP for marketing. OTP is user-initiated and purely transactional.
Data Sharing
We may share data with service providers who process information on our behalf—for example, cloud hosting, image processing (blur), email and SMS delivery. These providers are bound by contractual obligations to use data only for our instructions and to protect it appropriately.
Retention
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described above and to comply with legal obligations. OTP metadata and logs are retained for a limited period for security and auditing.
Your Choices & Rights
- You may access, update, or delete your account information from within the app or by contacting support.
- You can request removal of your posts and images.
- You may request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it, subject to lawful exceptions.
Safety Guidance
- Be cautious. We do not know every user personally.
- Never make payments to recover a document.
- We are not responsible for external interactions beyond the app.
- Report suspicious chats using the Report button in the conversation screen.
International & Regional Use
Dokseed is initially available in Cameroon (+237) and may expand to additional regions. Messaging routes and regulatory requirements may vary by country; we comply with applicable local rules for OTP and communications.
